Deepa Malik has become the 1st Indian Woman ever to win a medal at Paralympic Games. She has won a Silver Medal in Shotput F53 category with lifetime personal best performance of 4.61 mtrs.

” Deepa is wife of a veteran caveliar Colonel Bikram Singh and daughter of a veteran Infantry Colonel BK Nagpal and feels very proud of her Army origin. She is mother of two adult daughters- Devika and Ambika. Her family and friends have been her greatest support system.”

They say a woman usually settles down as she enters her 40’s and she thinks of living her life according to the normal stereotypical social image. But if it’s true for every woman then how is Deepa Malik any different? Having started her sports career at the age of 36, this paraplegic woman (chest below paralyzed) has cut down all social norms to swim through every tide. Having braved 183 stitches between shoulder blades and three spinal tumor surgeries in the past 14 years, the First ever sportswoman First paraplegic Indian woman biker, swimmer, car rallyist, entrepreneur and motivational speaker; this all rounder is a winner in every right!

Deepa Malik Work Experience:

ENTERPRENUERSHIP – Ran a catering and restaurant business successfully for seven years 2003-2010 {Awarded Swawlamban Award for the effort} but had to close down for the training of CWG and Asian Games 2010.
Member of the working group in the formulation 12th five- year plan { 2012-2017 } on Sports and Physical Education as nominated by the Planning Commission HRD Division on behalf of Sports Ministry.

Motivational Speaker: has given several lectures and been a part of a number of educational conclaves & MNCs (Corporate sector) as a motivational and inspirational speaker.
